Dar Kamal Chaoui near Fez

With over 500 reviews, here's what they say about us

Be careful, this place is a nugget not to be missed!

I could mention the unusual location of this village off the beaten tourist track, the charm of this house where art and comfort come together, or describe the delicious dinner prepared by the luminous Jhalila ... not forgetting breakfast on the terrace in fine company. But all that would be reductive, because in reality the erudite Kamal, voluble, passionate and fascinating, and his beautiful, calm and generous wife manage the feat of welcoming you like true, sincere and joyful friends.
I only have one regret: I only spent one night there, but we'll be back and will be making other excursions with Kamal, who knows so well how to show us the most intimate and everyday aspects of Morocco.

Exceptional

The house is superb, especially the bedroom and terrace. I appreciated the friendliness of the hosts, Kamal's availability to explain and discuss the history and life in Morocco... Naima's cooking is excellent.
The location of the house in Bhalil allows us to explore the more rural side of Morocco, other than the hustle and bustle of the medinas: meeting village women who embroider djellaba buttons, visiting troglodyte houses.
I recommend this address, and rather than a few hours' visit to Bhalil, choose Kamal's house as a base for touring the region.

Exceptional

Staying with Kamal, Jalila and their daughter was the best experience of my month-long trip. My husband, toddler and I drove to the mountains to stay with them, and our stay with them felt like being wrapped into the fold of a family. We joined them for local meetings, took a cooking class, toured the town, saw caves, and probably met more than 100 people. We'd stay out until late into the evenings as our son would play with the local children, say hi to the women's circles and greet people. We were completely immersed in everything that was happening in their lives, and we could not have felt more welcomed. We loved our stay so much, and we were so sad to leave. I really debated if it was worth journeying the extra distance with a toddler to stay with them...go! They are absolute gems, and you will create wonderful lifelong memories. Thank you all so much for your hospitality...until we meet again!
